Department of Digital Systems · University of Thessaly

Quantum technologies are among the most rapidly emerging and strategically important areas of modern science and technology. KBANTA 2027 is the first Panhellenic conference giving students and early-career researchers a stage to present their work, exchange ideas and collaborate in an inherently interdisciplinary field.

The conference is organized by the Department of Digital Systems, University of Thessaly, and takes place in person in Larissa, Greece. Proceedings will also be live-streamed for viewing only.

Who should submit

Undergraduate students, postgraduate students and PhD candidates from all over Greece, from the natural sciences (computer science, physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology and more), engineering schools and related fields. If you are interested in quantum technologies, KBANTA 2027 is for you.

Types of contributions

We welcome:

  • original research papers
  • literature reviews
  • thesis work in progress

Contributions can be presented as oral presentations or posters, the latter especially for undergraduates and early-career researchers.

Topics

  • Quantum Computing and Algorithms — qubits, gates and circuits, algorithms (Grover, Shor, VQE, QAOA), quantum programming (Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane), simulation, hybrid algorithms, quantum machine learning
  • Quantum Communications, Quantum Internet and Cryptography — QKD, network architectures and protocols, repeaters, teleportation and entanglement, post-quantum cryptography, error correction, network simulation, IoT and 5G/6G
  • Quantum Sensing, Metrology and Imaging — sensors and magnetometers, atomic clocks, quantum imaging, applications in medicine, geodesy and the environment
  • Quantum Materials and Condensed Matter Physics — superconductors and topological materials, 2D materials, quantum phases; nanostructures and quantum dots
  • Quantum Chemistry and Biology — quantum computing for chemical systems, molecular simulation, quantum biology, drug and biomaterial design
  • Quantum Technologies and Engineering — quantum processors and hardware, cryogenics, integrated photonics, fabrication and characterization, industrial applications
  • Quantum Education, Skills and Policy — education and training, ethical, social and economic impact, national and European strategy, technology transfer and startups
  • Interdisciplinary Applications — quantum AI, optimization and logistics, finance, energy and sustainability, medicine and health, security and defense

The topic list is indicative. Any work related to quantum technologies is welcome.
